How to Recharge Your Energy When You’re Home All Day
| 05/18/2020Home is usually the place you go when you need to rest and recharge your energy. When you’re home all day without any chance to get out, it can become more of an energy drain.
It’s not just the endless cycle of chores. It’s the fact that the human mind craves new or different experiences. We get a spike of energy when our brain gears up to deal with a new situation. When you’re seeing the same walls, furniture and people every day, your brain doesn’t get the energy spike.
The obvious answer, of course, is to get out and do something new or something you haven’t done in a while. When that isn’t an option, you have to find some ways to recharge at home.
How to Recharge Your Energy Without Leaving the House
People recharge in different ways. For some people, a nap does wonders. For others, physical activity is the key.
If you need physical activity, yoga is a good way to move without needing a lot of space. The stretching and relaxing of your muscles help release “feel good” chemicals in your brain. Yoga also requires mental focus that can give your brain the stimulation it needs.
For something a little more lively, try putting on some happy music and dancing to it. If you have kids, this activity can give them a chance to burn some energy while recharging yours.
If you recharge better with mental activities, you may get the feeling of “going places” by reading a book. Letting yourself experience someone else’s life for a while can give you more energy for your own.
Creative projects like drawing or coloring, refinishing furniture, or gardening are also good ways to stimulate your brain without having to go anywhere.
You may even find that the simple act of trying new things, even if you don’t end up wanting to do them long term, gives you the energy recharge you need without having to go anywhere.
