How to Make Your Own DIY Essential Oil Bath Salts
| 05/28/2018Scented homemade bath salts are luxurious but often too pricey to use regularly. If you love how they make you feel but aren’t in love with the price tag they come with, never fear. You can make your own DIY essential oil bath salts for very little money.
Best of all, you can custom blend ingredients for your unique skincare needs. You can add additional fragrances if you’d like but all you need is one to create a relaxing atmosphere in your bathtub. You can also add moisturizing oils such as jojoba or almond to give your skin some additional love.
How to Make Homemade Bath Salts
In order to make your own essential oil bath salts, you’re going to need three ingredients. The first is Epsom Salt or Sea Salt. The second is baking soda. The last is the essential oil of your choice.
Once you’ve gathered the ingredients needed for the DIY bath salts, you’ll want to make sure that you have a bowl to mix the wet and dry ingredients together. You also need a lidded container or jar to store your salts in.
Add one cup of Epsom Salt or Sea Salt with one cup of baking soda. Then add the essential oil as you see fit. Some recipes call for a few drops while others suggest 20-30 depending on how strong you want the scent to be.
Keep in mind that the more wet ingredients you add, the wetter the mixture will be overall. Since you want to be able to scoop the salts out of the container or jar, opt for a few drops and mix it well before adding more essential oil.
Once everything has been mixed together well, transfer the salts to a container or jar. If you want to label the bath item, you can. You can even opt to decorate the top of the jar by cutting out a circle of scrapbook or wrapping paper.
Don’t forget to add a scoop or spoon to make it easier to add the salts to the bath!
