Even many doctors of western medicine agree that yoga can improve one’s health. Here is a look at some of the most popular and beneficial yoga positions.
Eagle Pose (Garudasana)
This pose requires you to concentrate and focus your mind on a single point. Stand with your feet hip-width apart, bend the knees, lift one thigh and cross over to the other, bend the elbows and bring the palms to touch. Hold for few breaths and switch sides.
Standing Forward Fold (Uttanasana)
Bend your knees, slightly engage the core, and hinge forward placing the hands in front of your feet. Hold each elbow with the opposite hand and take few deep breaths.
Child’s Pose (Bālāsana)
On your hands and knees, take the sitting-bones back over the heels and your hands stretched out in front of you, palms to the ground. Slowly fold your torso until your eyebrow center rests on the mat. Take deep breaths and stay as long as you wish.
Thunderbolt Pose (Vajrasana)
From kneeling, sit back on the heels. Maintain the length of the spine and feel the crown draw towards the ceiling. Cross your hands in front of your chest and cup them under your arms.
Reclined Bound Angle Pose (Supta Baddha Konasana)
Lie down in the Savasana pose. The soles of the feet should be joined together and knees should be out to the side. Your arms can rest on your torso or up overhead.
Legs Up The Wall Pose (Viparita Karani)
Sit with hips against the wall and roll onto your back. Your bottom should be pressed close to the wall, as much as possible. Now close your eyes and take in deep breaths.
Yoga is an excellent stress reliever which will provide instant results after being practiced with integrity.
